Last night we saw "Waste Land", the most astounding documentary about the work of Vik Muniz, a Brazilian artist who worked with the catadores, the pickers of recyclable materials from the vast waste tip of Jardim Gramaco in Rio de Janiero. I cannot recommend it highly enough; please see it if you get the chance. The power of art to change lives has never been more dramatically portrayed.
