Today in our painting session we tried to see how my recently purchased painting had been made by trying to make a close copy of it in the manner of art students of old. It was fascinating and so much more difficult than you imagined it might be. The four of us had black, white, yellow and brown paint, a vast pot of brushes and some water…Luis produced some Turneresque cloudscapes. Ellie and Amalia looked so closely and carefully and mixed the colours with such care. The results were impressive; I had a lot to learn from their close attention to detail. My tulips were much too feathery!
The relaxing after the intensity was fun too.
