The exhibition at Modern Art Edinburgh of Joan Eardley’s landscape paintings and preparatory sketches was powerful. One of those exhibitions where you want to be a painter, to be able to show the atmosphere of a landscape with brush strokes of great skill. I have only put the sketches here, the paintings need to be seen to be appreciated because of the textures and subtleties.
